Programming

The Orlando Symphony Orchestra, Symphony ensembles, and individual musicians perform a broad variety of repertoire and musical styles at venues throughout Central Florida.  Whether it be a full symphonic program, Pops, Broadway, Hollywood, crossover, multi-media, or chamber music, the Orlando Symphony Orchestra counts upon Florida’s finest orchestral musicians.

Events

  • 7 September 2024:  An exclusive program throughout Florida entitled, “The Tenor”, featuring world-renowned Italian-Argentinean tenor, Juan Carlos Vassallo.  The program is composed of the greatest arias of the Italian operatic repertoire, Tango, and orchestral music from both the Italian repertoire and Tango.
  • 10 December 2022:  Russian Ballet Orlando presents its 22nd season of The Nutcracker showcasing 150 company dancers performing with live music provided by the Orlando Symphony Orchestra.
  • 30 October 2021:  The Orlando Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of David Handel, performs a free concert at The Veranda at Thornton Park after a long break due to Covid restrictions. The performance venue is outdoors so that everyone can enjoy live music in a safe environment.
  • 3 April 2020:  Seminole State College, Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, Gala Season Finale, Americana. Come party with the Orlando Symphony Orchestra and Seminole State College, celebrating their first professional-orchestral concert series, exclusive to Sanford and Lake Mary.  Enjoy your orchestra with Opera Orlando soloists and Symphony sponsors.  The program features American classics, from Rags to Riches, as well as highlights from Bizet’s Carmen.
  • 7 February 2020:  Seminole State College, Center for the Fine and Performing Arts performs Hip-hop Symphony, featuring Orlando’s nationally acclaimed Motiv Dance Studio. This program knocks your socks off.  Enjoy orchestral masterpieces by Vivaldi, Mozart, Dvorak, Rossini, Brahms, Bernstein, and more. Feel the energy of a wholly American genre.   Choreographed by Marlee Hightower, and performed by Marlee and Motiv’s young artists, this groundbreaking collaboration is uniquely awe-inspiring.
  • 24 December 2019:  Tuscawilla Presbyterian Church in Oviedo. Orlando Symphony Orchestra musicians perform seasonal favorites by Rutter, Handel, as well as traditional carols at Tuscawilla Presbyterian Church in Oviedo.
  • 13 December 2019:  First United Methodist Church in Downtown Orlando. Orlando Symphony Orchestra ensembles perform our 13th annual Winter Concert with the combined national award-winning choirs of West Orange High School.
  • 6 December 2019:  Foundation for Seminole State College, 1055 AAA Drive, Heathrow, FL. Holiday Cheer, A program dedicated to your favorite seasonal music, from Anderson to Berlin,  Handel, Mendelssohn, Prokofiev, and more… Come and celebrate the beginning of the season with your loved ones and the Orlando Symphony Orchestra.
  • 4 October 2019:  Seminole State College, Lake Mary Campus, Building C. Latin Soul / El Alma Latina. A program celebrating the music and culture of Spain and Latin America, featuring the music of Lecuona (Cuba), Leng (Chile), Piazzolla (Argentina), Gutierrez (Venezuela), Moncayo (Mexico), and De Falla (Spain). Dancers of Orlando’s Flamenco del Sol.
  • 24 December 2018:  Tuscawilla Presbyterian Church in Oviedo. Orlando Symphony Orchestra musicians perform seasonal favorites by Rutter, Handel, as well as traditional carols at Tuscawilla Presbyterian Church in Oviedo.
  • 14 December 2018:  First United Methodist Church in Downtown Orlando. Orlando Symphony Orchestra ensembles will perform our 12th annual Winter Concert with the combined national award-winning choirs of West Orange High School at the First United Methodist Church in Downtown Orlando.
  • 10 November 2018:  First United Methodist Church in Downtown Orlando. The combined West Orange High School Choirs perform with Orlando Symphony chamber ensembles in a program entitled “For a Breath of Ecstasy” by Michael John Trotta.
  • 27 October 2018:  Seminole State College, Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, and The Orlando Symphony Orchestra present a program dedicated to music of the Americas and their inspirations at the Seminole State College, Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.
  • 26 October 2018:  Stetson University, Lee Chapel at Elizabeth Hall, Deland. The Bella Voce Choir of Olympia High School joins Orlando Symphony musicians in a performance for the the annual conference of the American Choral Directors Association at Stetson University in Deland, FL.
