Re:
Seminole State College & Orlando Symphony Orchestra
As
the new dean of Arts and Communications at Seminole State College, I am excited
to have the opportunity to develop an ongoing collaboration with the Orlando
Symphony Orchestra. We have submitted a grant to fund a Latin American
Festival for Fall 2019. We are also looking into other funding sources with a
plan to bring back the Orlando Symphony Orchestra even sooner, in Spring 2019.
Ultimately, a yearly residency of 4 events a year would enhance our
mission to provide cultural vitality to our community.
Seminole
State represents a diverse scholarly community that promotes a foundation of
reasoned inquiry that enables students to develop philosophical, ethical, scientific
and artistic knowledge. My goal is to promote awareness of the
transformative power of the arts and communication studies through the multiple
outlets our Center for Fine and Performing Arts offers as well as the academic
programs within the Arts and Communications Department. We can achieve this in
part through our relationship with the Orlando Symphony Orchestra which will
enhance our students’ learning and enrich our community through professional
performances throughout the year.
I
look forward to a longstanding partnership.
Sincerely,
Dr.
